Nassau Woman Arrested For Neglecting Her Dog
The dog, Gigi, was malnourished, neglected and had extensive dental problems. The SPCA is asking for money for her treatment.

A Hempstead woman was arrested last week after her dog was said to be seriously neglected, the Nassau County SPCA said.
SPCA detectives arrested Christine Key, 47, after a groomer called them about the severely neglected shih tzu, named Gigi. The SPCA said that Gigi was underweight and deprived of basic care. Her teeth were rotted and many were falling out, and her nails were long and twisted, making it hard for her to walk. Her fur was so badly matted that her collar had to be cut off.
Key was charged with failure to provide proper sustenance, which is a misdemeanor.
