The Nassau SPCA is offering $8,000 for info leading the the arrest of the person who dumped seven dead dogs, including a puppy, into a sump.

The Nassau County SPCA has once again increased the reward its offering for information leading to the arrest of whomever dumped seven dead dogs, including a puppy, into a Hempstead sump earlier this month.

Thanks to a donation, the reward is now $8,000. It was originally $5,000 and increased to $6,000 last week, also thanks to a donation.

The bodies of the dogs, each one placed inside black garbage bags, were found on Wednesday, Sept. 12 in a sump on South Franklin Street in Hempstead. The Nassau County SPCA says the bodies were all pit bulls, and included four female dogs, two males and a 3-month-old puppy.

The SPCA, which investigates animal-related crimes in the county, said it is offering the reward because it feels that someone knows who threw the corpses into the sump.

Anyone with any information about this crime is encouraged to call the Animal Cruelty Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-THE-SPCA.
