Raise Awareness About Consequences of Drunk Driving
Franklin Square, NY – 10 February 2015 – The Christopher DeCrescito Memorial Foundation invites everyone to its Second Annual Bowling Event at the Garden City Bowl on Sunday, March 15th 2:30-6:30pm. The event will feature traditional bowling, raffles, entertainment and refreshments as well as a professional fashion show presented by East Coast Starz. NY Football Legend Wayne Chrebet will be there to meet, greet and sign autographs. There will be performances by the Hype Girlz and more.
The Christopher DeCrescito Memorial Foundation benefits families who have lost a loved one to a drunk driver. In 2014, the Christopher DeCrescito Memorial Foundation helped 9 families whose loved ones were victims of drivers under the influence. These no-strings-attached monetary donations directly to the families provide a lifeline at a critical time when other sources of financial aid for victims are tied up in bureaucracy.
The founders of the Christopher DeCrescito Memorial Foundation know from experience what this is like. Christopher DeCrescito was murdered by a drunk driver on February 27, 2013 leaving behind his three children and wife, Denise. Chris was a devoted father, a loyal friend and caring husband who spent his life helping others. It is in that spirit that his family established the foundation.
The Foundation has two goals: 1) raise awareness among teens about drunk driving and 2) offer a monetary gift to families ravaged by a loss caused by a drunk driver. “This money is meant to offset mortgage and rent payments or to go toward bills - just something practical to help at a time when everything is in chaos,” explains Denise DeCrescito, Chris’ wife and the head of the Foundation. “We hope we can bring a small amount of relief to a family overwhelmed with grief.”
Christopher DeCrescito’s birthday is March 17th and this fundraiser is meant to be an annual event in his honor since he was an amazing bowler, from the time he was a child right through his adult life. There are two types of tickets available: blue and pink. Blue tickets, $20, include bowling, entertainment and refreshments. Pink tickets, $60, include bowling and refreshments plus participation in the Star Gazer Outerstuff Half-Time Fashion Show right at the bowling alley. Clothes are provided for the show along with hair and makeup services, professional photography and more. Models get to keep for free the clothes they wear in the show and receive Swag Bags. Raffle tickets are available for purchase. ‘
Tickets for the event can be purchased via the website www.gofundme.com/DeCrescito-Foundation. The event is also seeking raffle donations and lane sponsorships. For sponsorship information, ticket options and event questions, please contact Denise DeCrescito at 516-491-1683 or info@cdmfusa.org. CDMF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
