Simon Property Group Head to Speak on 'Re-Imaging Roosevelt Field'

Are you aware of the planned redevelopment of and of the Long Island debut of the premium luxury retailer Neiman Marcus as the centerpiece of the $250 million re-imaging project?  

Please join the Garden City Chamber of Commerce at its season finale luncheon program on Wednesday, June 13, 11:30 a.m., at the Garden City Hotel, when keynote speaker Thomas J. Schneider, Executive vice President of the Simon Property Group, will provide an overview of this planned  re-imaging of Roosevelt  Field, the sixth largest retail shopping mall in the U.S.  

The highlights of this major makeover include new lighting, flooring and seating, as well as bright and aesthetically pleasing common areas, flooded with natural light from a new glass-domed ceiling and additional skylights.  Also planned are enhanced landscaping and signage throughout the exterior of the property, plus improved access to and from the surrounding roads.  Additionally, a new Food Pavilion will replace the existing food court, featuring a modern dining environment, outdoor seating and a wider range of culinary options for every taste and budget, it is reported.

An institution since it opened in 1956, today, Roosevelt Field is the home of 270 retailers. The planned redevelopment will be privately funded and financed at no taxpayer expense.  The project is expected to create more than 2,800 construction jobs as well as hundreds of new retail and service positions.  It is also reported that Roosevelt Field Mall is one of Nassau County’s largest tax contributors, generating approximately $110 million in annual revenues, a number that is expected to further increase with the redevelopment.
