ST. ANNE'S SPIRIT DAY: SAVE THE DATE SEPTEMBER 19, 2015

GARDEN CITY, New York (July 14, 2015) - There are 67 days until Spirit Day. It seems like a long time for kids (and some adults!) to wait for this fun-filled day at St. Anne’s. But for the planning committee, 67 days will fly by as planning begins for the 13th Annual Spirit Day Celebration happening on Saturday, September 19, 2015.

The informal kick-off to Spirit Day planning is the mailing of the Big Bucks tickets to parishioners. The cost of a single raffle ticket is $100 with a maximum of 1000 tickets to be sold. Up to five entrants can be named on a single ticket. This year the funds from the Big Bucks Raffle will allow St. Anne’s to continue to offer religious, educational, social, service, scouting and athletic activities for the young persons of our faith community. The Grand Prize winner receives 25% of the total raised and five additional lucky winners receive 5% of the total. Saint Anne’s Big Bucks raffle sold out for the last 2 years and the Grand Prize winners each received $25,000!!! The five second prize winners each received $5,000! Winners do not need to be present to win but no one wants to miss the exciting moment of that drawing at 10PM. It’s an incredibly positive way to end a fun and beautiful day for the entire parish family.

With the mailing of the “Big Bucks” raffle tickets, it’s officially “Spirit Day Season” as all efforts focus on the preparations that need to be made for the big day to happen. Event flyers will soon appear in storefronts and local kiosks while advertising boards from local vendors will be hung in the church parking lot with messages of support for St. Anne’s Parish. But most of the progress will take place behind the scenes. Vendors are secured for both the festival as well as the diverse Craft Fair on Dartmouth Street. The mums are ordered for the Fall Plant Sale and the various events of the day are organized, including Respite Games, the Middle School Dance Party and Night at the Races, all happening on Spirit Day at St. Anne’s.

The Church of St. Anne in Garden City hosts its 13th annual Spirit Day on Saturday, September 19, 2015 from 1-10pm with rides, games and music all day and evening. The day is highlighted with a beautiful celebration of Mass outdoors at 5pm and the exciting Big Bucks Raffle drawing at 10pm.
