Three Nassau Men Arrested For Armed Home Invasion

Police say the three forced their way into a home in March and stole cash and jewelry.

Nassau police announced they arrested three men and charged them with a home invasion that occurred in Uniondale in March.

Police arrested Steven Bonilla, 35, of Maplegrove Avenue, Uniondale; Oscar Velasquez, 26, of Randall Avenue, Freeport; and Carlos Veliz, 25, of West Columbia Street, Hempstead. On March 31 at 9:10 a.m., police say the three men forced their way into a home on Harrison Street. Two of the men were armed with handguns, police say. Once inside, police say they forced the 40-year-old woman who owned the home and three children into a bedroom on the second floor, then they stole money, jewelry and a safe, and fled the home.

Bonilla was arrested on Wednesday, Sept. 12. He was charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary. He was arraigned on Thursday, Sept. 13 at First District Court in Hempstead.

Velasquez was arrested on Thursday, Sept. 13. He was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and various vehicle and traffic law violations. He was arraigned on Friday, Sept. 14 at First District Court in Hempstead.

Veliz was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 18. He was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary and various vehicle and traffic law violations. He is scheduled to be arraigned today in First District Court in Hempstead.
