Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest: Nassau Police

Police say the man tried to hide crack cocaine and heroin under his seat, and tried to flee when officers spotted the drugs.

Nassau County police arrested a Hempstead man on drug charges after he fled from a routine traffic stop on Thursday night.

According to police, officers pulled over a car near 65 Main St. in Hempstead around 9:30 p.m. As they approached, police say the officers saw the passenger, Christopher Wright, 31, of Terrace Avenue, place a clear plastic bag on the floor of the car. Police say the officers asked him to get out of the car, and when he did, Wright tried to run away. Police caught up with him, they say, and he continued to resist arrest for several minutes until he was finally placed into custody.

Police say the bag Wright tried to hid contained three large pieces of crack cocaine and thirty decks of heroin.
