Two Men Charged With Assaulting And Robbing Off-Duty LI Cop
The two New York City men were part of a group that attacked and robbed the officer, the Bronx DA says.

Two Bronx men were indicted on Monday for robbing and assaulting an off-duty Hempstead police officer while he was in the Bronx in July.
Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark said that Saikou Sumareh, 20, of Grand Concourse, and Musa Krubally, 24, of East 135 Street, were each arraigned on two counts of first-degree robbery, three counts of second-degree robbery, third-degree robbery and first- and second-degree assault. They are both due back in court on Dec. 17.
“The defendants, along with others, allegedly assaulted the off-duty police officer as they stole several gold chains he was wearing," Clark said. "The victim fired his gun and wounded two defendants, as well as himself, during the fight, and suffered a serious wound to his leg.”

According to Clark, on July 21, Joseph Page, an officer with the Hempstead Police Department, was driving his SUV at the corner of Sedgwick Avenue and Hall of Fame Terrace when he was hit from behind by a dark-colored Toyota sedan. Page and the other driver got out of their cars, and a red Nissan sedan pulled up and Sumareh and Krubally, as well as another man, got out, Clark said. All four men then assaulted Page, according to Clark, and stole the gold chains he was wearing.
Page said that he saw one of the assailants had a gun, according to Clark, and so he pulled out his own gun and fired at his attackers. Sumareh was shot in the arm and stomach, and Krubally was shot in the stomach, Clark said. Page also shot himself in the leg.
