U.S. Postal Service Recruiting At Long Island Malls

You could start a new career by filling out an application, either this weekend or next month.

The United States Postal Service will be holding recruitment drives in the coming days at two Long Island malls.

The first will be on Friday, July 12 at the Roosevelt Field Mall, located at 630 Old Country Road in Garden City. The second will be next month at the Walt Whitman Shops, at 160 Walt Whitman Road in Huntington Station.

The Post Office said it is looking to fill critical job vacancies at many Long Island locations.

The Roosevelt Field event will be from 3 to 8 p.m. There will be hiring specialists on hand to help people fill out applications. There will also be hiring specialists at the Postal Service’s Long Island District in Melville on Saturday, July 13, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and again on Sunday, July 14, from noon to 4 p.m.

At $17.29 per hour, City Carrier Assistants perform the duties of a letter carrier delivering and collecting mail on foot or by vehicle. A City Carrier Assistant may be required to work any day of the week, including weekends and holidays. Selected applicants must possess a current valid state driver’s license with a safe driving record. Postal Service health and leave benefits are available.

A second Postal Service jobs event is scheduled for the Walt Whitman Shops on Friday, Aug. 2 from 3 to 8 p.m., on Aug. 3 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Aug. 4 from noon to 4 p.m.
