U.S. Military In Iraq Receive Thousands of Boxes of Their Favorite Girl Scout Cookies(R)

Girl Scouts of Nassau County send a large shipment of Girl Scout Cookies® to United States military troops in Iraq

The Girl Scouts of Nassau County recently sent a large shipment of Girl Scout Cookies® to United States military troops in Iraq as part of its 11th annual Operation Cookie initiative. The program provides the opportunity for the local community to purchase Girl Scout Cookies® to be donated to military personnel, local veterans’ facilities and other organizations.

This year, the Girl Scouts of Nassau County collected more than 65,000 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies® for troops serving around the world. DHL, the world leader in international express delivery and the Girl Scouts’ long-standing partner for this initiative, played an instrumental role in the initiative by delivering the boxes of Girl Scout Cookies® and bringing joy to the soldiers.

Since its inception, Operation Cookie has shipped more than 620,000 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies® to servicemen and women in, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Bahrain and Long Island military bases. Since 2013, Cookies have also been delivered to our local Marine Base in Garden City, the Coast Guard station at Jones Beach and other New York military institutions.
