
The Waldorf School of Garden City is proud to announce their 6th Triennial Gala Celebration on Friday, May 31st at the Heritage Club at Bethpage in Farmingdale, NY in celebration of 100 years of Waldorf Education Worldwide. The evening honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the Waldorf School and, this year for the first time, will recognize alumni who have dedicated their careers to Waldorf Education. Proceeds from the event will benefit the School’s Early Childhood Playground renovation and Camp Glen Brook projects.
“Our Gala celebration is a wonderful tribute to the many people who have made significant contributions to our School and the Waldorf philosophy,” said the School’s Gala Committee Co-Chair and Current Parent, Lisa Horowitz. “It is a celebration of the wonderful traditions of the School, this education, and our entire community.”

- Richard Pisano, Jr. ’78 - The Spirit of Waldorf Award is presented to an individual who embodies the “Spirit” of the Waldorf School of Garden City, has dedicated their service or financial resources over many years, and is recognized for their compassion and contribution to both the School and the wider community.
- Roland Rothenbucher - The recipient of the Distinguished Faculty Award is recognized for outstanding scholarly achievement, professional excellence, dedication to the students, and mission of the Waldorf School of Garden City, and served the School of more than ten (10) years.
- Susan Braun - The Franz E. Winkler Leadership Award is given to a person who has led the School with vision and direction, guided the growth and advancement of our School, and inspires loyalty and support for a shared vision of the School.
- Lance & Sue Cheney - The recipients of the Hans R. Brechbühl Service Award are recognized for a lasting and meaningful contribution to the School, giving voluntary service, and for showing devotion to the School over many years.
- Dr. Stephen Sagarin ‘80* - The Outstanding Alumni Awards are presented to individuals who have achieved a level of distinction within their chosen field, bring credit to the Waldorf School of Garden City, and who have made or continue to make a significant career commitment to Waldorf Education in the capacity of Administration, Faculty or Staff.
