What A Night: Village Celebrates Centennial and Sesquicentennial

Hundreds filled the St. Paul's fields to enjoy live music, food truck fare, children's activities, dancing, fireworks and more!

What a night celebrating two momentous occasions in Garden City's history -- the 150th anniversary of Alexander T. Stewart’s land purchase and the 100th anniversary of Garden City’s Community Agreement! Hundreds filled the St. Paul's fields to enjoy live music, an array of eats from various food trucks, children's activities, dancing and more. The night was topped off by a fireworks display!

Rock and roll band, Stages, performed all the hits while Kona Ice, Cheezy Pete’s, Crepes and Bakes, Neopolitan Pizza, NY Strip Catering Gourmet Food, Roadhouse Empanadas, BK Sweeney’s (beer and wine) and John Parks’ Good Humor Stand all offered food and beverages.

"I am so very pleased that everything went so well. So many of our residents came over to express their approval. It was a good time for everyone," Mayor Theresa Trouvé said. "I never saw so many people having such a good time and that is people of all ages. An unusual number of people asked if we could do this more often. If that isn't a sign that people were quite satisfied with the day, I don't know what is. By the way, I am wondering when we could do it again."
