Woman Seriously Injured After Being Hit By Car In Nassau

A woman was seriously injured Wednesday after she was hit by a car while crossing a road in Garden City Park.

According to police, a 35-year-old woman was crossing Jericho Turnpike, west of Fifth Avenue, at 5:40 p.m. when she was hit by a car. The driver, a 60-year-old man, stayed at the scene.

The woman suffered serious face and head injuries and was rushed to a hospital by a Garden City Fire Department ambulance.

The man's car was brake and safety tested at the scene. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
