• Ghent, Poughkeepsie women arrested on animal cruelty charges (dailygazette.com) — A Ghent resident was among two women recently charged with misdemeanor animal cruelty after severely underweight dogs were removed and taken to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA. The shelter is now over capacity with nine rescued dogs and is urgently seeking adopters, while reminding struggling pet owners that free pet food and support are available to prevent neglect.
