3 Firefighters Injured After 4-Alarm Commercial Nursery Fire In Glen Head, 150 Firefighters On Scene: NCFM
Fire marshals said the fire was brought under control within 2 hours.
GLEN HEAD, NY — Three firefighters suffered minor injuries after a storage building fire in Glen Head on Wednesday morning, fire marshals said.
Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said Nassau County FireCom received 911 calls at 8:14 a.m. on April 8 reporting a fire in Big Valley Nursery, a commercial landscaping and gardening supply storage building, on Cedar Swamp Road.
The three firefighters with minor injuries were treated at the scene and refused transport, NCFM said.

There was serious fire damage to the structure with some collapse, but the fire did not affect the propane tank on site, fire marshals said. No civilian injuries were reported, fire marshals said.
The Glenwood Fire Department responded to the fourth-alarm fire, along with mutual aid fire departments, City of Glen Cove, Jericho, Roslyn, Manhasset-Lakeville, Sea Cliff, Oyster Bay, East Norwich, Locust Valley, Albertson, Westbury, and Bethpage, fire marshals said.

According to fire marshals, the fire was contained to the building of origin and under control in 2 hours. There were approximately 150 firefighters on scene, and all firefighting operations were under the command of Glenwood FD Chief Sinski, fire marshals said.
The NCFM Hazardous Materials Response Team was on scene monitoring the situation, and it was reported that there were no air quality issues found that would cause danger to neighboring communities from fertilizers stored in the building, fire marshals said. They continued to monitor for safety, along with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, fire marshals said.
The NCFM Drone Unit was on scene and operating, and the Town of Oyster Bay Building Department was on scene to evaluate structural damage, NCFM said.
NCFM Investigators were on scene along with NCPD Arson/Bomb detectives to determine the cause of the fire, which remains under investigation. remains under investigation, fire marshals said.
