Glen Cove Woman, 87, Hit By Car, Seriously Hurt: PD
Glen Cove police said the woman suffered head and hip injuries.
GLEN COVE, NY — A 87-year-old woman was transported to North Shore University Hospital with multiple injuries after she was struck by a car in Glen Cove on Monday, according to the Glen Cove Police Department.
Vincenza Maruca of Glen Cove was struck at about 11:28 a.m. while she was trying to cross Pearsall Avenue near Glen Street, according to Detective Lt. John Nagle. She suffered multiple injuries, including head and hip trauma, and was treated by Glen Cove Emergency Medical Services before being transported to the hospital.
“This was an unfortunate accident,” Lt. Nagle said in a news release, adding that investigators do not believe the crash was criminal in nature. The 67-year-old driver, who is also from Glen Cove, remained at the crash scene and was cooperative with the investigation, he said.
