Bites Nearby: Asian Fusion

You could stand on a corner and look around until a restaurant sign draws you in. But we've got a better idea. Each week, Glen Cove Patch picks a great restaurant either in town or nearby that is worth checking out. Here's this week's choice:

Asian Fusion

Asian Fusion, a new restaurant located in the heart of downtown Glen Cove, is an intriguing addition to the area.

The establishment is a reflection of Chinese immigrant Jay Zeng, 28, who originally landed in Chinatown and found work as a waiter. After learning the ropes of the restaurant business, Zeng decided to open his own place, and says he chose Glen Cove because of its location and friendliness in the community.

The staff is, in fact, very friendly and attentive during the Monday night dinner shift, and the food was served in good time. 

The fusion of Thai, Sushi and Chinese is no exaggeration, as Zeng comes from Fuzhou, China, near the island of Taiwan, and his relatives are from Thailand.

For an appetizer, I tried the duck roll, which was delicious, and served with a special sauce. For the main entree, I had the Red Hot Roll, a bit of a spicy sushi selection filled with crabmeat, cucumber, avocado, and topped with tuna, jalapeno, cilantro and homemade hot sauce.

Appetizers at Asian Fusion are $7 to $14; salads, $7 to $10; and most entrees, including their delicious Chicken Teriyaki, hover around the $15 range. The menu has a lot of depth, complimented by covering three categories of Asian cuisine.
