Board of Education Appoints 3 New Administrators
Two new principals and a new assistant director of special education will join the Glen Cove School District in July.

Three new administrators will join the Glen Cove School District starting Wednesday, July 1.
A new high school principal, an elementary school principal and a director of special education were appointed to their respective positions at the Board of Education’s meeting on Monday, June 1.

“Their strong educational background and commitment to children will be a positive asset to the district, and we look forward to the contributions they will make here in Glen Cove,” said Superintendent of Schools Maria Rianna.
Glen Cove High School’s newest principal will be Antonio Santana, who previously served as principal at Port Jefferson Middle School. He will be replacing Rosann Cirnigliaro. While at Port Jefferson, he provided and participated in ongoing professional development in Common Core Learning Standards and served on the district’s professional development committee. He also established criteria for acceleration in science at the high school.

Deasy Elementary School’s newest principal will be Ken Craft, who has served as assistant principal at Susan E. Wiley Elementary School in the Copiague school district since 2011. He will be replacing Nomi Rosen. While at Copiague, Craft worked with the District’s instructional staff to ensure that the Common Core mathematics curriculum was properly integrated into the daily instructional program.
The new assistant director of special education will be Betsy Lashin, who currently is a special education teacher in the North Bellmore Union Free School District. She also worked as the SCOPE summer enrichment director, a role in which she helped to fully develop curriculum and staffing and maintain summer programs.
“We are extremely pleased to welcome Mr. Santana, Mr. Craft and Ms. Lashin to the Glen Cove family,” Rianna said.
