Boater's Certificate Course In Glen Cove
Space is limited. Those interested must register in advance.

Residents can take part in a boater's certification course in Glen Cove in June.
The two-part seminar will go over topics related to safe operation, regulations, responsibilities of boat ownership and operation.
The courses will be held on Saturday, June 10 and Saturday, June 17 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Garvies Point Museum and Preserve, located at 50 Barry Drive. The $55 per person fee includes both days. Participants must attend both classes in order to receive a certificate. Space is limited. Those interested must register in advance.

The seminar is being offered by the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Glen Cove Flotilla 12-03.
“Too many people take their boats out onto the water without proper preparation,” County Executive Ed Mangano, who encourages residents to take advantage of the seminar, said in a press release. “The boating safety tips offered at this course can help save lives by ensuring boaters are properly prepared before they leave the dock.”

Certification is now required by law to operate a personal watercraft in Suffolk County.
