Bomb Threat Evacuates 2 Glen Cove Schools [UPDATED]

Police said a note, which stated there were multiple bombs inside the school building, was left in a classroom. ​

UPDATED at 4:20 p.m.:

Two Glen Cove schools were evacuated for a bomb threat on Wednesday morning, police say.

Glen Cove Police responded to Finley Middle School, located at 1 Forest Ave., for a report of a bomb threat at 10:07 a.m. Police said a note, which stated there were multiple bombs inside the school building, was left in a classroom.

The Glen Cove Police searched the building with assistance from Nassau K9 unit. No bombs were found, police say.

All students from Finley and Deasy Elementary School, located at 2 Dosoris Lane, were transported to Glen Cove High School as a precaution.

Glen Cove Police are investigating the incident.

Parents were able to pick up their children at the high school. Students who were not picked up before regular dismissal time will be dismissed from the high school.

There will be no after-school activities, sports or programs at the Middle School or Deasy School, the school district said.

This morning, Wednesday, May 10th, the Finley Middle School found a bomb threat. Glen Cove Police were immediately called to the scene. All students from both the middle school and Deasy elementary school were transported to the high school, as a precautionary measure. Parents were notified that their children were available for pick up at the high school. Deasy students were located in the high school auditorium and the middle school students were held in the gymnasium. Students from the three Deasy school classes on a field trip will return to the high school at approximately 1:30 pm. Any child who is not picked up prior to their regular dismissal time will be dismissed from the high school.
Students, who receive busing, will be brought home to their regular bus stop.
There will be no after-school activities, sports or programs at the Middle School or Deasy School.
