Conservation League Endorses DeRiggi-Whitton

The New York League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV) has endorsed County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton's re-election campaign.

Seeking her 4th term as legislator for the 11th District, DeRiggi-Whitton was selected based on her continued focus on a multitude of environmental issues. “Protecting the environment is critical everywhere,” DeRiggi-Whitton said. “But Long Island is surrounded by water and we live on top of our sole source of drinking water, our aquifers. So it is our duty as elected officials to do whatever we can to ensure the quality of our water, air, soil and lives are protected.”

As staunch and powerful advocates for myriad environmental issues, NYLCV is the only statewide environmental organization fighting for clean water, clean air, renewable energy and open space through non-partisan political action. “In her time in office, Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton has fought for our environment and public health. She helped clean up Glen Cove Beach, worked to remove outdated septic systems in her district, and helped make train stations and busses more accessible,” NYLCV President Julie Tighe said. “This work reflects key NYLCV priorities, including encouraging the use of public transit and improving water quality. That’s why we are proud to stand with Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton in her re-election and we urge voters in Legislative District 11 to cast their ballot for her this fall.”

NYLCV also follows voting and sponsorships in the New York State Senate and Assembly on key environmental bills that address clean energy, public health, transportation and beyond and creates an annual Environmental Scorecard.
