DeRiggi-Whitton Proud to Help Seniors
DeRiggi-Whitton helps fund new Senior Bus at Glen Cove Senior Center

Nassau County Legislator Delia DeRiggi-Whitton always enjoys visiting the members of the Glen Cove Senior Center. Each month, she and oftentimes her youngest daughter Arianna, spend time with the Center’s members, asking what they’re thankful for. She gives a long-stem rose to each senior celebrating a birthday that month before everyone sings a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday to You!” After the candles are blown out on the birthday cake, everyone enjoys a slice.
Delia is especially proud to have been able to secure funding to pay for nearly half of the $78,000 for a new 24-passenger bus for the Senior Center. The cost was shared with the City of Glen Cove. The new bus will offer critical transportation for the Senior Center members to and from doctor visits, shopping and various trips the members always enjoy.
“We have been working for quite awhile to get the funding to help pay for this important bus,” Legislator DeRiggi-Whitton said. “Working with Mayor Tim Tenke to see this project through has been a great pleasure. We are certain the bus will get a lot of use by our City’s seniors for years to come.”
