DNA Evidence Helps Identify Glen Cove Burglar: Police

Blood left at the crime scene allowed detectives to identify the person responsible for an August burglary, police say.

A Bayville man who is currently on parole was arrested Tuesday for burglarizing a Glen Cove home after police say they matched his DNA to evidence left at the scene.

According to authorities, a Glen Cove resident returned home to find that someone entered her house and removed money and jewelry on Sunday, Aug. 21.

The burglar allegedly cut himself during the burglary and left his blood at the crime scene. The DNA evidence led Glen Cove detectives to 36-year-old Zachary Bruscella, police say.
