Drunken Driver Causes Overturn Crash That Ejects Passenger In Glen Cove: Police
BREAKING: The man was also charged with attempting to headbutt officers and flee arrest, police say.
A Glen Cove man was charged with DWI and assaulting officers after causing an overturn crash that ejected his passenger on Saturday night, police say.
According to authorities, Jose Mejia Guardado, 23, was driving on the 100-block of Duck Pond Road in Glen Cove when his vehicle took down a utility pole and flipped onto its hood at 5:15 p.m. Police say his passenger, an 18-year-old woman, was thrown from the vehicle. She was transported to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries to her head, neck and hip.
Guardado was arrested at the scene and charged with DWI. He later became combative by attempting to flee officers and attempting to headbutt and kick them, police say.

He was additionally charged with third-degree assault (reckless assault), third-degree assault, attempted third-degree assault and escape.
Guardado was arraigned in Glen Cove Court on Sunday and held on $25,000 cash bail.
