Dulce Delights Brings Fine Desserting to Glen Cove

Dulce Delight opened on Forest Avenue six weeks ago, but its official ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday welcomed the Frozen yogurt franchise to the neighborhood.

The shop is a side project of owner David Zhan. He's lived in Glen Cove for more than 10 years and wanted to open something that would bring something new to the community.

“Glen Cove needs something like this,” he said. “Everything around here is very traditional. This is something trendy, like what you would see in New York City.”

The frozen yogurt store offers an interesting assortment of flavors, including Thin Mint cookie, pomegranate raspberry, strawberry banana, apple pie and Dutch chocolate, with a toppings bar to boot.

To make the store stand out, its owner decided to offer more than frozen yogurt.

“What we tried to do is provide a complete solution for everyone,” Zhan said. If a customer doesn’t want a frozen treat, they can order things like cupcakes, coffee or bubble tea.

The decor is another aspect Zhan tried to keep ahead of what most would expect.

“It’s more high end,” Zhan said. “It’s something geared more towards adults. It’s a nice environment you can come into and work on your computer.”

The place includes free Wi-fi to accomodate customers who would like to stay a while.

Members of the Glen Cove and Mayor Ralph Suozzi tried the products and provided advice and encouragement for the new business.  

Zhan felt his decision to move to Glen Cove was a good one based on the positive feedback he's been getting from locals.

“So far, it’s good,” he said. “We’re happy here.”

The store is located behind , and is open weekdays until 10 p.m. and weekends until 11 p.m.

That's not the end of Zhan's frozen yogurt plans for the region.

“We’re trying to open two more stores this year,” said Zhan.
