THE PATH TO PARADISE

A Discussion by Dr. Anat Berko

Sunday, July 18, 10:15 am

As a research fellow at Israel's International Institute for Counter-Terrorism, Dr. Anat Berko has spent considerable time in her country's most heavily secured prisons, conducting extensive interviews with suicide bombers who failed their missions. She has also investigated the world of those who dispatch these bombers and has examined particularly the women and children who volunteer to become suicide bombers. At Glen Cove's Congregation Tifereth Israel on Sunday, July 18, in The Path to Paradise, Dr. Berko guides her listeners through this hidden and little-understood world. Her talk begins at 10:15 am. It is open and free to the public. A light breakfast will be served.

Dr. Berko served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Israeli Defense Forces. She is presently a member of Israel's Counter-Terrorism Team and its National Security Council. Dr. Berko also advises senior government officials on topics related to terrorism.

Congregation Tifereth Israel is located at 40 Hill Street in Glen Cove. Long Island's oldest continuing Jewish congregation, CTI has provided Jewish programming and education to the Long Island community since 1897.  For further information, call (516) 676-5080 or log onto www.ctionline.org.
