The students learned about their future studies, class schedules and the various clubs offered at the school and played games like “Breaking Bread” at the barbecue.

“Breaking Bread,” for example, signified the students becoming part of the Finley family.

At the start of orientation, students were greeted by members of the administration as well as school guidance counselors. They listened as locolano offered tips and advice on how to navigate their new school.

Members of the school’s National Junior Honor Society also helped lead a scavenger hunt/building tour as a way to prevent less students from getting lost on the first day of school. Although, it’s pretty much guaranteed a few will get lost anyway.

Students then enjoyed a barbecue lunch of hot dogs, hamburgers, juice and snacks thanks to members of the school’s PTSA.

“Our goal was to bring them together like a family to help ease the transition next week,” Iocolano said. ”We wanted to get them acclimated to the building and to relieve them of any anxiety that may have built up over the summer.”
