Former WWE Wrestler Pays Visit to Glen Cove Students
One would expect a lesson on full nelsons and body slams, but that wasn't the case.
When a former WWE Wrestler visited Glen Cove students at R. Finley Middle School, one would expect a lesson on full nelsons and body slams, but that wasn’t the case.
Marc Mero instead spoke to students about the power of making the right choices, based on his own life experiences.
The assembly, based on the successes and pitfalls of Mero’s life, was sponsored by the school’s PTA to coincide with Bully Prevention Month. At the assembly, Mero spoke to students about his humble beginnings and how he ultimately became a WWE Wrestler. He also told students that by writing down his dreams and goals helped him to achieve them.

Mero explained to students that choosing the right friends would have a profound impact on their life, saying that when he hung out with losers, he became the “biggest loser of all,” turning to drugs and destructive behavior. He also reminded students how gifted, talented and special they are and to come together as a school to step up against bullying.
