Glen Cove recently announced its City-wide calendar of events for the fall season.

From an exotic car show to a pet parade, Glen Cove has organized activities to keep residents occupied during the months of September and October.

  • First Day of Glen Cove Public Schools; ½ Day for Grades K-5
  • Tennis Lessons with US Sports Institute: First play tennis for ages 5-14 at Stanco Park on Sundays Sept. 13 - Oct. 25. For registration and fees, call 1-866-345-BALL

Sept. 6

  • Third Annual Nicholas Pedone 5K: Check-in opens at 7:00 a.m. Fun run at 8:15 a.m., 5K at 9:00 a.m. at the Glen Cove High School. For more information call (646) 574-1727

Sept. 7

  • Labor Day: City and School Holiday; No Garbage or Recycling Pick-up; Residents regularly scheduled for Monday will receive pick-up on Tuesday; Residents regularly scheduled for Tuesday, will receive pick-up on Wednesday. There will not be Metal or Yard Waste pick-up until the following week, September 16.

  • Glen Cove Youth Bureau After 3 school year program begins for Gribbin, Deasy, Landing, Connolly and Robert M. Finley Schools. For more information call (516) 671-4600
  • Glen Cove Youth Bureau’s Drop in Center Open from 3:45 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Monday – Friday for 1st through 6th graders, Saturdays, 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Drop in Center open on Wednesdays – Saturday from 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. for 7th – 12th graders. For more information call (516) 671-4600

  • E-waste Program: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., 100 Morris Avenue. The following items are accepted at the program: Televisions, VCR’s, Stereos, Electronic Games, Printers, Fax Machines, Computer Monitors, Hard Drives, Keyboards, Mice and Cables, Cell Phones, Pagers. Sept. 20

The following items are accepted at the Program: Aerosol Cans (with contents), Air Conditioning Refrigerants, Antifreeze, Automobile Tires, Automobile Batteries, Household Batteries, Brake and Transmission Fluids, Bug and Rodent Killers, Pesticides, Insecticides, Fertilizers, Rug and Upholstery Cleaner, Polish and Wood Preservatives, Oven Cleaner, Waste Oil, Paint Thinner, Enamel, Lead and Oil Based Paints (NO Water or Latex based paints) Pool Chemicals, Empty BBQ Propane Tanks, Unused Flammable Liquids. Residential Waste Only; Do NOT bring explosives, smoke detectors, fireworks, or medical waste.
