Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club members Jayden R. and Thomas Q.G. have been named Youth of the Month for December 2020. The Youth of the Month is a Club wide initiative encouraging and acknowledging the improvements youth are making in academics, personal growth, relationships and overall demeanor at the Club.
Jayden is six years old and a new member of the Club, having joined in the beginning of the 20-21 School Year. He is in the first grade and has a passion for arts and crafts. Jayden is a budding artist who enjoys drawing caricatures based on cartoons and video games. He is also musically inclined and is learning how to play the guitar. When not exploring his creative talents, he likes to play soccer at the Club gym and games with his friends. “I like it here at the Club because you make a lot of friends,” said Jayden, whose pleasant and happy demeanor is making a very positive impact on his Club peers.
Thomas is 11 years old and in the fifth grade. His favorite subject is English and he has a passion for sports. He enjoys playing soccer and basketball, and is a huge NY Islander fan who regularly attended games prior to COVID. Thomas is also a guitar player who gravitates towards the Rock ‘n Roll genre. He has been a member for a little over four years and attends every day, including during the Summer. He credits the Club for helping him with his homework and for caring about the kids adding “It’s a very unique place.” Thomas would like to work as a Group Leader at the Club someday but his ultimate goal is to become a Police Officer so he can help people. When not at school or at the Club, Thomas enjoys spending time with his family.
