Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club
Rosemary A. and Anderson O. were highlighted as Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Month for October.

Rosemary, who just turned ten years old, was happily surprised to be selected as the Junior Youth of the Month. She has been a member for four years, attending every day along with her two sisters. At the Club, she participates in homework assistance programs, sports & fitness activities, creative arts and learning new applications in the Tech Lab. She has made many friends and one of her favorite pastimes is playing volleyball with them in the gymnasium. “The Club is welcoming to everyone, and the staff make sure the kids are kind to each other,” said Rosemary. As a fourth grader, she enjoys school, gravitating towards math and STEM learning. She has an incredible love for animals, especially pandas, and eagerly wants to become a veterinarian when she grows up.
Anderson is thirteen years old and in the eighth grade. This is his second time being named Senior Youth of the Month, a title he accepted with humbleness and pride. His favorite subjects in school are Spanish, science and social studies. “The Club has been my home away from home for more than half my life. Being a teenager is a challenging experience, but the staff are helping us through it and that is very helpful,” said Anderson who has attended the Club consistently for seven years. He has always been a wise youth but now as a teenager, feels even more mature and more responsible. “I am helping my uncle in landscaping and learning and take pride in my work and our accomplishments,” said Anderson. This work, along with his artistic talent to build things is influencing his dream of becoming an architect to considering a career in landscape architect and design. When not at school, at the Club, or helping his uncle, Anderson enjoys riding his bike, playing sports and video games.
