Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club

Carl N. and William M. received the coveted title of Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Month for November.

Carl, eight, received a hearty applause, congratulations and lots of hugs from his friends upon learning he was selected as the Club’s Junior Youth of the Month. Surprised by his victory and overwhelmed by the support, Carl quietly said “I feel so comfortable here.” Carl has been a member for a little over a year, having first joined the Club through the Summer program. He is a regular attendee who likes to participate in all activities but gravitates mostly to sports, especially running bases and soccer. As a third grader in Elementary School, he excels in math, enjoys art and also plays the flute. Carl wants hopes to become a police officer someday but for now is enjoying playing with his friends.

This is the second Youth of the Month title for twelve-year-old William M., who was also received this recognition in May of 2022. As a Senior YOM with a five-year membership, he is a seasoned and outstanding star at the Club. William attends every day during the school year as well as participating in the Club’s Summer program. “I enjoy being at the Club. I have made a lot of friends, and we spend a lot of time together in the Teen Center.” While he’s not sure of what his career aspirations are right now, he does hope to become a Group Leader at the Club in the near future. In the meantime, he is happy to be at the Club as a teenager, play soccer at the Club as well as on a team, play video games and during the Summer, go on field trips with his fellow Club members.
