Jaily A. and Eric C. Named December Youth of the Month

(Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club)

Junior Youth of the Month, Jaily A., is an eight-year-old third grader who brings enthusiasm and curiosity to everything she does. Math is her favorite subject in school, and she also loves staying active, with gymnastics being her top sport. Jaily is an avid reader as well, and one of her favorite books is The Absent Author by Ron Roy from the A to Z Mysteries series. Whether she is solving math problems, flipping through a good book, or creating colorful artwork, Jaily relishes using her imagination. Her creativity shines through in all she does and perfectly reflects her dream of becoming an artist when she grows up. Jaily has been a member of the Club since the first grade, and over the years it has become a special place where she feels safe, supported, and surrounded by friends. For Jaily, the Club is more than a place where she can have fun. “The Club means my parents can go to work and not have to worry knowing that my brother, sister, and I are taken care,” Jaily shared. When not at school or the Club, Jaily prefers playing games and spending quality time with her family.

Senior Youth of the Month, Eric C., age twelve and in the seventh grade, shines in math and approaches every challenge with enthusiasm. He is very active, with soccer being his favorite sport, and enjoys reading, particularly the I Survived… series by Lauren Tarshis. While he is still exploring and contemplating his future, Eric is leaning toward becoming a lawyer to help people, a goal that already reflects the leadership, empathy, and thoughtfulness he demonstrates every day. At the Club, Eric has quickly emerged as a standout member of the Teen Group. This is his first-year attending, and he can often be found in the gym playing basketball with group leader Mr. Frank and his friends. He thrives when participating in activities that challenge him and offer opportunities to learn, grow, and compete. “I like coming to the Club school because I get homework help and I am having fun, as opposed to just going home like I used to do before I became a member,” said Eric.
