Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Annouces September Youth of the Month
Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club members Kevin R. and Doris F. have been named Youth of the Month for September.

Kevin R., 11, is in the sixth grade at Robert M. Finley Middle School. Kevin has been a member for five years and attends the Club every day. His time at the Club has been so positive he aspires to work at the Club as a Group Leader during High School and College. “I love it here, I love being here and I hope I can work here when I get older. I learn so much from my group leaders and I want to help the younger kids the way my group leaders helped me,” said Kevin, who was especially close to group leaders Dah-keem W. and Eishen C. “I was so upset when they left for college,” added Kevin. In addition to enjoying time at the Club, Kevin also likes school where his favorite subjects are science, social studies, and reading and English Language Arts. He plans on pursing a college degree and hopes to become a professional football, basketball or soccer player when he grows up.
Doris F., 15, a tenth grader at Glen Cove High School and relatively new member to the Boys & Girls Club experience, has been making significant improvements to her language skills during her short time as a member. Doris credits Teen Program Director, Chris Ricco and Group Leader and 2014 Youth of the Year Elizabeth Garcia with helping her improve her English. Her favorite subjects are English Language Arts and science. She plans on pursing a college and medical degree and aspires to become a pediatrician. Doris enjoys her time at the Club. “It is a place where I can have some freedom and be with my friends while learning and getting guidance from caring adults. Without the Club, I would be home alone after school with no supervision.”
Congratulations to Kevin R. and Doris F., Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club’s outstanding September Youth of the Month.
