Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club & Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club "Team Up" for Make-A-Wish Foundation

Boys & Girls Clubs Work Together to Benefit Children.

Keystone Club teens from Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club and Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club teamed up to raise funds for Make-A-Wish, a foundation dedicated to granting the wish of every child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition.

The Keystone Club is one of the Boys & Girls Club movement’s premiere programs providing opportunities for teens to participate in activities in academic success, career preparation and community service. Studies show young people who engage in service do better in school, maintain positive relationships with adults and peers and most importantly, avoid risky behavior. By engaging teens in ongoing volunteer service activities, Boys & Girls Clubs provide them with the tools and support needed to become productive, caring and responsible citizens and encourage good character and an appreciation for citizenship.

The Keystone teens from both Clubs joined forces to host the Volley Ball Tournament, which took place at Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club on Friday, April 15th. About 20 teens from each Club competed in the game, sold raffle tickets and snacks and collectively raised $300 from this cooperative venture. Thanks to the generosity of supporters who donated, purchased raffle tickets and attended the fundraiser the Keystone Club teens fulfilled their goal in helping Make-A-Wish, an organization the teens chose because of the great work they also do for children.
