Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Hosts Star Studded Youth of the Month

Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club held a blockbuster Hollywood style Annual Youth of the Month Banquet to honor 20 distinguished Youth of the Month stars, the stellar 2019 Youth of the Year and the gifted recipients of the Louis M. Sanford, Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club and Glen Cove Medical Board Scholarship.

The Banquet, attended by award winners and their family, Club staff and community leaders, celebrated these outstanding youth and the many accomplishments they have acheived throughout the year. Club Teen and staff member, Javier Y. was honored as the 2019 Youth of the Year. Education Director, Sean O’Callaghan presented awards to Club members Kirianna D., David M., Jason M., Richard O., Marley A., Ronaldo R., Tyler C., Melanie A., Saul M. and Maria G while Program Director Jackie Telleria presented to Mayleen C., Milagros G., Abigail S., Panagiotis G., Tyler S., Khalil F., Mia B., Melton F., Luis G. and Cayden P. Associate Director, Desirae O’Neill presented the 2019 Louis M. Sanford Education Scholarship to Mindy M. and the 2019 Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Scholarship to Natalie C. Natalie was also awarded the 2019 Medical Board Scholarship Award by Dr. Barbara Keber, Chairperson of the Medical Board of Glen Cove Northwell Hospital.

The Youth of the Month and Youth of the Year are Club initiatives that encourage and acknowledge improvements youth are making in academics, personal growth, relationships and overall demeanor at the Club. The Youth of the Year is the Boys & Girls Club’s most coveted title and signature effort fostering leadership skills while the Youth of the Month is a monthly recognition program focusing on progress of participation, positive attitude, helpfulness, attendance and achievements. Each month, staff select a junior member between the ages 6-12 and a senior member between the ages 13-18 to be the Youth of the Month.
