Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club January Youth of the Month
Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club has been named Samantha S. and Felix F. Youth of the Month for January.

Junior Youth of the Month Felix, 6 is a first grader at Deasy Elementary School. He joined the Club this past October and has since made a lot of friends and developed a special connection with Group Leader, Mr. Rakim (Lilly). Felix enjoys playing in the gym at both the Club and at school and his favorite subjects are math and reading. Felix wants to help people and hopes to become a firefighter when he grows up. He was thrilled to meet Marvin Tate, the Club’s Technology Consultant and 3rd Assistant Chief at the Glen Cove Volunteer Fire Department, who extended an invitation to Felix to visit the Firehouse.
Senior Youth of the Month Samantha, 12 wants to become an actress when she grows up and serve as a positive role model for younger kids to look up to. Samantha, who attends Robert M. Finley Middle School, likes to make kids laugh and demonstrate her talents and what she is capable of doing. “I want to influence people with music, with my words and my actions. I want to sing for other people but I also get a good feeling when I sing. It makes me feel free,” said Samantha, who has been a member for a year and a half. She enjoys her time at the Club and the activities. Samantha credits the staff for encouraging her to participate in different activities and explore new experiences and she is very excited about participating in the Recording Studio program headed up by Mr. Jordan (Alexander). Samantha’s favorite subject is English and she loves to read teen fiction and books like the Hunger Games.
