Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club June Stars
Camila G. and Roselyn S. have been named Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Month for June.

Ten-year-old Camila is in the fifth grade and already has her sights on becoming an Interior Decorator. Skilled at Toca Life World Home Decorating app, she is eagerly learning about design concepts from room layout and furniture placement to color schemes. Camila is excellent at math but also enjoys reading, art and playing soccer with her team. She first joined the Club through the Summer program and continued membership for the school year. Camila, who has cousins and friends at the Club, has also met many kids outside her core group. “Everyone is nice and very welcoming here. The Club is a great place to meet people and make new friends,” said Camila.
Roselyn S. is nine years old and in the fourth grade. She excels at math and science and loves the challenge of working on science projects. She is also an avid reader with her favorite book series being the I Survived series by Lauren Tarshis. In addition to being an excellent student, Roselyn stays very busy with her soccer team and playing trumpet in the school band. She hopes to pursue a career in medicine, becoming a pediatrician so she can help children and babies. Having joined the Club at the beginning of the school year, she is a relative newcomer to the Club who attends daily and is fully immersed in all activities. “The Club is really nice on the inside. I like the computer lab, playing with my friends in the gym and doing crafts in the art room,” said Roselyn of her Club experience.
The Youth of the Month program encourages outstanding conduct and recognizes the efforts youth are making to improve their attitude, school work, listening skills, relationship with peers and overall demeanor at the Club. Visit glencovebgc.org for more information.
