Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club March Youth of the Month
Allison V. and David M. have been named Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Month for March.

Allison, 7 is a first-grader at the Gribbin School. Her favorite subjects are writing, science and reading and she especially likes reading books about children and their lives. She also enjoys reading books about doctors, a profession she holds in high regard and hopes to pursue as a career someday. Allison would like to become a pediatrician when she grows up and is already working hard to make education a priority. Allison has been member for six months and during this time, she has made a lot of friends and her favorite place in the Club is the Learning Center where she if often found doing her homework, which she takes great pride in completing without much assistance. She is especially close to Group Leaders Mr. Dahkeem and Ms. Breanna. “Mr. Dahkeem and Ms. Breanna make me feel important and I really like being at the Club. I have made a lot of friends here.”
David, 11, is a sixth-grader at Robert M. Finley Middle School and has been a member of the Club for two and a half years. David participates in many Club based activities, has made many friends and has established a special bond with Group Leader Dejon (DJ), who also happens to be the Club’s Youth of the Year. “I can trust DJ and talk to him. He guides and mentors me,” said David. “The Club has really taught me to interact with people. I used to be shy before but now, I feel more comfortable around people,” he added. David’s favorite subjects are English, Social Studies and Science and he dreams of becoming a professional soccer player when he grows up. He currently plays in the Sea Cliff Club Soccer Team as center-midfielder. He does expect to go to college and would like to attend Hofstra University when he graduates from high school.
