Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club March Youth of the Month

Josue C. and Madison V. have been named Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Month for March.

Josue is 13 years old and in the seventh grade at Robert M. Finley Middle School. His favorite subject is science but his true love is sports, especially basketball. “I was never really interested in sports until I joined the Boys & Girls Club. Playing sports is now my favorite thing to do,” said Josue who dreams of becoming a professional basketball player when he grows up. “I would really like to pursue a career in sports but if that does not work out, I can see myself as a chef or a teacher. If I become a teacher, I would like to teach math and hope that I can make it easier and a better learning experience for kids.” Josue’s Club experience has been very positive and instrumental in helping him make many friends. “If I didn’t have the Club, I would be at home watching TV after school, and probably not having any fun.”

Madison V., 9, is in the fourth grade at Landing Elementary School. “I love, love, love the Club. It’s my second home and the best place on earth,” said Madison, who doesn’t want to miss a day at the Club, even if she is ill and needs to stay home from school. Madison plans on being a Club member right through High School and wants to become a group leader when she is old enough to work at the Club. Madison has every expectation of going to college and would like to attend either Hofstra or Syracuse University. She would also like to become a basketball player when she grows up or perhaps a singer. Madison has a beautiful voice and is enrolled in NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association). She especially likes to sing songs by Meghan Trainor.

Congratulations to Josue and Madison, Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Month for March.
