Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Serves Thanksgiving Dinner to Community

On Tuesday, November 24, Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club hosted a bountiful Thanksgiving Dinner for the Glen Cove community.

Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club, along with Andrea Correale and Elegant Affairs and 71 volunteers and staff members, served the dinner to 410 guests.

Andrea Correale and her team at Elegant Affairs prepared and donated all the trimmings for the dinner and cooked the 34 turkeys contributed by members of the Club’s board. “Elegant Affairs believes strongly in giving back to the community. We are so impressed with the work that Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club does for the children of Glen Cove that it is our pleasure to support the Club for the past 15 years,” said Andrea Correale, President of Elegant Affairs.

“Our Thanksgiving Dinner is truly a collaborative affair and one that brings together our members and their families, our volunteers and the Glen Cove community to share in a feast and enjoy the festivities of this thankful season,” said GCBGC Associate Director, Desirae O’Neill, who organized the dinner. Jack McDougal, board member and Retired Sargent of the Glen Cove Police Department, gave the blessing while volunteers and board members helped serve the turkey and the delicious traditional thanksgiving fare including stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, and macaroni and cheese. As always, the Sundae stations were a favorite among the kids.

In addition to hosting the Annual Thanksgiving Dinner, the Club also held a Thanksgiving Basket Drive. Thanks to the generous donations and contributions from the board and community including Jessica Tuntunjian, Happiness is Belonging, The Green Vale School, Stop & Shop, Glen Cove Beer Distributor, Kristie Werz, The Greek Orthodox Church of the Resurrection and St. Catherine’s Philoptochos, the Club was able to provide complete Thanksgiving Dinners for 112 families to prepare at home on Thanksgiving Day.
