Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Siblings December Stars

Junior Youth of the Month Dillon, who is the younger of the two brothers, is almost ten years old and is very responsible for his young age, always eager to help his parents and take care of his siblings. Dillon is in the fourth grade where he gravitates towards math and science and enjoys reading the Dog Man Series by Dav Pilkey. He is not quite sure about his future endeavors but would like to see himself in a place where he can help the elderly. He has been a member of the Club for two years, attends daily and participates in many activities. “ I learned how to shoot a basketball here. The Club is a great place for me, a place where I am taken care of, where I have made many friends and where I can have fun and get help with my homework,” said Dillon.

Senior Youth of the Month, Edgar is twelve years old and in the seventh grade. He was thrilled to find out that he and his younger brother were both selected in the same month and like Dillon, he also does well in school and excels in math. Edgar enjoys playing sports, especially basketball and volleyball, soccer and football but his passion is in the arts. He likes to draw and looks forward to pursuing an artistic career. He too has been a member for two years and attends the Club most days. When at the Club, Edgar spends most of his time in the Teen Center where he interacts with his peers, engages in sports activities, plays video games and just enjoys being a teen. “The Club is very important to me and has helped me become more confident. I feel comfortable talking to the staff here and being with my friends.”
