Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Month Banquet Honors Outstanding Members
Youth of the Month Banquet
Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club held their Youth of the Month Banquet, honoring 22 outstanding youth who were recognized as Youth of the Month throughout the school year, on Thursday, June 18. The Club also honored Youth of the Year, Dejon T. and Club dancers, who recently won a gold medal at the Starbound National Talent Competition, performed at the event.
Each month the Club awards two outstanding youth, a junior Club member ages 6-12 and a senior Club member ages 13-18. The Youth of the Month is a rigorous selection process with members nominated by program staff based on members’ participation, positive attitude, helpfulness, attendance and achievement. Education Director, Sean O’Callaghan presented the 11 Junior Youths of the Month praised for their outstanding achievements; Adam B., Joshua B., Dijaye C., Felix F., Monica J.B., Suleyma L., Shefali M., Sebastian M., Nicolle O., Skye S., and Allison V. Teen Program Director, Chris Ricco presented the 12 Senior Youths of the Month including Ayjah C., Eshon’e C.J., Jawan D., Yefri D., Andres G., Karina H., David M., Juan C. M., Mindy M., Edward M. and Samantha S.. Edward M. spoke on what the Club means to him.
The Youth of the Month is a highly coveted title amongst members because it not only validates their outstanding behavior but also recognizes the efforts they have been making to improve their attitude, school work, listening skills, relationship with peers and overall conduct at the Club.

“We are very proud of all our kids but especially the 23 members we honored at the Banquet. They have all demonstrated outstanding character and leadership skills. These kids are truly representative of the work we and our mission of inspiring and enabling all young people to realize their full potential as productive and responsible citizens. We are delighted to host this Banquet that shows to them and their parents how much we appreciate their hard work and positive attitude,” said Executive Director, Franca Trunzo, who hosted the evening’s event.
