Glen Cove Boys & Girls Youth of the Month

Samantha P. and Jayden O. were named Glen Cove Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Month for April.

Junior Youth of the Month, Samantha is ten years old and in the fourth grade with a zest for learning. She has various interests, including reading, writing, art, math, and music. She is also sporty and enjoys playing soccer. Samantha’s favorite books include The Baby-Sitters Club, a series of novels by Ann M. Martin, and The Magic Treehouse series by Mary Pope Osborne. She attends the Club every day, where she participates in academic programs, including Power Hour homework help, which has helped improve her grades. Samantha is not quite sure what career she envisions for her future, but she is considering fields such as law enforcement, education, and the beauty industry. Until then, she is enjoying her youth and her time at the Club, where she feels comfortable and safe.

Senior Youth of the Month, Jayden is twelve years old and in the sixth grade. He is passionate about soccer and aims to play professionally in the future. He is particularly drawn to math, science, and physical education. Jayden is also musically inclined and active in the Glen Cove Chorus. Although he is not a natural dancer, he is taking dance lessons to perform at his cousin’s Quinceañera and participate in her special day to make her happy. Jayden is very helpful and considerate of his family and his friends. Jayden first joined the Club six years ago and since then, he attends regularly and has made a lot of friends. “The Club staff and the kids here are very nice. I have a lot of fun doing a lot of activities here and you win prizes for doing good deeds,” said Jayden.
