Glen Cove EMS Makes The Switch From Fluorescent to LED Lighting
This initiative looks to create a more energy efficient Glen Cove.

An initiative to replace traditional fluorescent lighting at Glen Cove’s department of Emergency Services headquarters with new LED fixtures was announced late last month.
The City was reimbursed 66 percent for the cost of materials used in the project and received a rebate check for $3,690.
“Programs like PSEG Long Island’s Existing Building Retrofit allow the city to modernize its lighting in a cost efficient manner,” Mayor Reggie Spinello said in a press release. “In the short-term, the rebate helps offset the installation and fixture costs and in the long-term, we will continue to reap the benefits as LED lighting is more energy efficient and less costly.”

James Byrne, director of Glen Cove’s Department of Public Works, said the City, over the past two years, has also installed LED lighting in the City’s Pulaski Street municipal parking garage and when replacing street lights as part of a pro-active effort to create a more energy efficient Glen Cove.
