Glen Cove Football Coach Celebrates 100th Career Win
This is Pete Kopecky's 24th year as head coach.

Glen Cove High School varsity football coach Pete Kopecky celebrated his 100th career win when the team faced off against Lawrence High School on Oct. 24.
The win against Lawrence High School, who are three-time Long Island champions, was special for Kopecky for many reasons. Glen Cove hadn’t had a victory over Lawrence since 1949, and his team, a dedicated group of players who began preparing for the fall 2015 season the Monday after the 2014 season ended, was determined to change history, unaware that it was also going to be a milestone for Kopecky.
This is Kopecky’s 24th year as head coach at Glen Cove High School, with his first victory in 1992 against Mineola High School.

Coach Kopecky said he was fortunate to have Glen Cove High School lacrosse head coach Steven Tripp with him to share the winning moment, as he has coached every game with Kopecky since his first win against Mineola.
Prior to his time at Glen Cove, Kopecky was an assistant coach at Mepham and Long Beach high schools.
