Glen Cove Gymnastics Star Signs National Letter of Intent
The six-time national qualifier received a full scholarship to a Big 10 Conference school.
A Glen Cove High School senior has signed a National Letter of Intent for a full scholarship to the University of Illinois, a Big 10 Division I NCAA college.
Lindsay Dwyer is a six-time national qualifier in gymnastics.
“I’m so happy and excited,” she said. “I’m looking forward to the atmosphere of a different place.”

The gymnastics star finished first on bars (9.525) at the New York State championship meet in Rochester in March and won the all-around (37.70) at the USA Gymnastics Region VI championship meet in Springfield, MA, in April.
Besides excelling in her sport, Dwyer has a 96.86 GPA and achieved high honor roll status every semester during her high school career. Her class schedule is comprised of honors and Advanced Placement classes, and she is a member of the National Honor Society.

She has also volunteered for a variety of organizations, including the K.I.D.S. Plus sports program for children with disabilities, the Big Sister/Little Sister program at Gold Medal Gymnastics Center and multiple American Cancer Society Relay for Life events.
“[Dwyer] is an unbelievable gymnast and at the top of her class,” said guidance counselor Christine Mulhall. “She’s so humble and has taken some of the hardest classes offered at Glen Cove. Even with all of her traveling, she still managed to keep up with her coursework and be a good friend.”
