Glen Cove to Hold 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

The ceremony begins 8:30 a.m. on Friday.

A special ceremony in Glen Cove will mark the 14-year anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001 to remember the heroes who brought the country together again, including four Glen Cove residents who lost their lives that day.

Edward J. Lehman, Matthew T. McDermott, John F. Puckett and Joseph J. Zuccala will be honored at the ceremony.

The service will be held at Glen Cove’s 9/11 Memorial in Pratt Park, located at 10 Glen Cove Ave.

Mayor Reggie Spinello will be joined by representatives of the Glen Cove Police Department, Fire Department, Auxiliary Police, Harbor Patrol, Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce along with distinguished guests, singers, local veterans and residents.

“So many of us have vivid memories of that mid-September day that still are fresh in our minds and in our hearts,” Spinello said in a statement. “For the 2,997 people including four Glen Cove residents who tragically lost their lives on 9/11, we stand united in our commitment to remember them with honor, dignity and an obligation to protect our freedoms in their memory.”
