Glen Cove Man Drowns at Indian Island County Park Tuesday Night: Police

The 20-year-old died, despite the valiant attempts of beachgoers who initiated CPR, police said.

GlEN COVE, NY - A Glen Cove man drowned at Indian Island County Park Tuesday night, police said.

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the drowning death of Brian Nolan, 20, of Glen Cove Tuesday night, police said.

Riverhead Police and Suffolk County Park Police responded to Indian Island County Park, located off of Route 105 in Riverhead, at 5:20 p.m., after a caller reported that a man had been pulled from the beach that runs along the Peconic River, police said.

Beachgoers initiated CPR on Nolan, police said. He was transported by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Homicide squad detectives are investigating the incident; the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner will be investigating the cause of death, police said.

The incident does not appear to be criminal in nature; the investigation is continuing, police said.
