Glen Cove Mathletes Compete in County-Wide Math Tournament

The Nassau Math Tournament was held at SUNY Old Westbury in late February.

The newly formed Glen Cove High School Mathletes team competed in the Nassau Math Tournament at SUNY Old Westbury on Feb. 26.

Students competed in three rounds of competition, including a grade-level round, a mathletic round and a team event. Glen Cove High School was represented by four teams, one consisting of students in grades nine and 10 and three made up of students in grades 11 and 12.

The participating students were Enaiya Awan, Daniel Baboolal, Evelina Backiel, Samantha Barry, Alexandra Casale, John Dong, Dani Dratch, Julia Farley, Joshua Filippone, Nikki Franklin, Alex Garcia, Tea Grzanov, Catherine Hatala, Amanda Ieraci, Sam Israel, Maria Krisch, Michelle Melfi, Julie Micko, Sydney Morris, Laura Roesch, Joel Saavedra, Matthew Tran and Victoria Tripp. High school mathematics teacher Lihong Cheng coaches the team.
